Van Scoyk Sheet Metal expands facilities, production line in $600,000 investment

A metal fabricator in the Dayton region recently expanded to a second location. Its new location offers more visibility and houses a new production line that will help keep the company at the forefront of metal fabrication.

Van Scoyk Sheet Metal, based out of New Carlisle, recently expanded its operations to a second facility near its warehouse at 475 Quick Road. The new 4,600-square-foot facility houses a new laser-cutting operation, which was a $600,000 investment for the company. The new laser-cutting capabilities of the company will help meet production needs at the main facility, as well as expand the business.

“The laser cutting opens so many other doors for us,” said Rachel Van Scoyk, vice president of Van Scoyk Sheet Metal.

The new facility at 715 N. Dayton-Lakeview Road gives the company more visibility, as it sits on a main road running through New Carlisle. David Van Scoyk, who serves as company president, said that while the main plant is just around the corner from the laser cutting facility, it sits on a back road with little visibility. While the company has been in business for over 60 years, he said many people don’t know that they’re present in the region and seizing the opportunity to expand to a building on the main road was too good to pass up. Additionally, owning the land that the building sits on opens the company up to expand in the future if that becomes a necessity.

The need to modernize capabilities and keep up with the metal fabrication industry was also a major motivator in the expansion. The new production lines added in will help Van Scoyk meet deadlines and customer demands more efficiently, and the company is already starting to see production increase because of the expansion.

The expansion is also a point of pride for Rachel and Michael Van Scoyk, who are third generation operators of the business their grandfather started over 60 years ago.

“My grandfather was very excited that both Michael and I were involved in the company prior to his passing,” Rachel said. “I know he would be extremely excited, and proud of our newest expansion.”

Founded in 1960, Van Scoyk Sheet Metal offers an extensive range of metal fabrication in several markets, including commercial, hospital, retail and residential sectors. The company is a full-service shop and has 10 employees locally.
